ABC News Feature: Calls for changes to school term for special needs kids

The autism advocate and founder of Spectrum Support believes that special needs children should run to an alternate school term.

“My boys love going to school. They thrive on the routine, structure, emotional regulation and mental stimulation. My boys are so happy when they are at school.  They sleep better, eat better and they aren’t begging me for the iPad all day long!” she says. 

“The current school holiday schedule drastically impacts our ability to be out in society in peak periods and a shift by a few weeks could change the quality of life for so many families like ours.”
