Transitioning suited professions into carers roles

With Christmas fast approaching and parents already being whipped into a frenzy over what presents to buy their kids – another issue emerging is for people buying gifts for kids, teens and adults on the autism spectrum.  One in 70 people in Australia are on the autism spectrum and parents, extended family and friends across the country are not sure what to buy them for Christmas. Kathrine Peereboom is one of the country’s leading autism experts and advocates and she is calling on families with loved ones with autism to focus on mental health.  Peereboom is the mother of three severely autistic boys and founder of Spectrum Support, a national organisation dedicated to raising awareness of autism and providing education, training and support. 

Spectrum Support officially launched our partnership with NSW Police and our jointly developed Autism & Law Enforcement training. This training is an Australasian first and both organisations are committed to the education program along with ensuring the safety of all individuals on the spectrum.
